ISLAMABAD : Supreme Court on Tuesday has ordered closure of New Murree project after taking a suo moto notice of the issue.
The New Murree Development Authority has also been eliminated with order of the Supreme Court.
The trial of suo moto notice is underway and the apex court has summoned DG and environment secretary on July 30.
On the other hand, Punjab government has informed the court about closure of New Murree project.
The Supreme Court in its remarks said projects like New Murree are threat for environment. According to additional advocate general Punjab, 4111 acres of land has been returned to forest department after the apex court’s orders.
