Musharraf announces team of defenders for Supreme Court of Pakistan, Former President General (r) Pervez Musharraf has announced a team of legal experts to defend himself in a case being heard by Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The four-member team would be led by renowned lawyer and Musharraf’s longtime ally, Abdul Hafiz Pirzada. Other members include former Attorney General Malik Qayyum, former Federal Minister for Law Khalid Ranjha and Chaudhry Fawad Advocate, said news reports.
On July 22, Supreme Court had summoned former president to explain his extra constitutional acts such as sacking of country’s top judiciary and imposition of emergency rule on November 3, 2007.
Musharraf on Thursday vowed to defend himself in the case, saying he will appear before the court if needed.
