ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court has suspended Carbon Tax on petroleum for interim period during hearing of a constitutional petition challenging the recent hike in prices of petroleum products. bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry in an order suspended the carbon tax notification till the conclusion of the hearing of the case.
The court observe d that carbon tax being levied in several other countries to improve the ecology but it is also a burden over general public.
The court directed the Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to issue an order in this respect on May 08.
