• Better Educational System: Shahbaz Sharif


    LAHORE, Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has stressed the need for revolutionary measures for the improvement of ruined educational system and all possible resources would be made available for the improvement of education sector and purging it of politics.
    He said that teachers should equip the builders of the nation with education for the bright future of the country by rising above groupings and government will solve all their problems. He said that if we talk only of rights and avoid our responsibilities then the society can never make progress therefore alongwith rights, we will also have to realize our responsibilities. He said that prizes would be given to hard working, dutiful and those teachers displaying outstanding performance regarding education of girl and boy students. He said that a strategy has been evolved in this regard. He said that beside provision of basic amenities in the schools, transport facility will also be made available for the students in rural areas.
    He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting held regarding recommendations of the committees constituted for improvement of educational sector and preparation of incentives for the teachers at Chief Minister’s Secretariat, here today. Chairman Taskforce Raja Muhammad Anwar, Members of National and Provincial Assemblies, Chairman P&D, educationists, heads of educational institutions and teachers were also present on this occasion. Chairperson of the Committee Saira Afzal Tarar presented recommendations regarding training of the teachers while Secretary Schools presented recommendations with regard to matters of teachers. Chief Minister said that teachers’ training is of paramount importance for the promotion of quality education in the province which was neglected in the past but now special attention is being paid to the training of the teachers. He said that 34000 educators have been recruited on hundred percent merit, they will be imparted training and later will be sent to schools for teaching process. He said that a force of master trainers will be sent in the far-flung and backward areas for teachers training so that training could be provided to the teachers at local level. He said that orders for upgradation of teachers at school level have been issued and Rs.50000 each as prize and five marlah residential plots would be given to 1000 teachers for taking interest in results, attendance, enrollment, community participation and educational facilities as well as funds. He said that basic scale of primary school teachers in rural areas has been upgraded to nine while those of elementary school teachers to 14. He said that there are no two opinions that if teachers will not be given respect then education sector will not be improved. He said that we have deep respect for teachers and will restore their respect in the society but the teachers would have also to play their role for the training of students on modern lines. He said that all the resources received by curtailing non-development expenditures are being spent on the improvement of education sector and the development of the province.
    Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that computers are being provided in the schools at a cost of billions of rupees and provision of transport facility to the male and female students is also of great significance. He said that without provision of pick and drop facility to the students the enrollment will not be increased in the schools. He directed Secretary Schools to submit a comprehensive programme within three weeks for the provision of transport in the schools and increasing the number of teachers in every primary school to five should also be considered and a separate committee should be constituted in this regard which should submit detailed report in this regard. He also stressed upon the need for evolving a comprehensive policy regarding postings and transfers of the teachers and said that teachers’ promotion will be subject to their performance and training. He said that we had eliminated Booti Mafia in our previous tenure but resurrection of this evil is lamentable. He said that we will make examination system complete transparent by purging it of Booti Mafia. He said that no nation can make progress without education therefore government has given top priority to education and solid measures are being taken for the development
